Summary of Project + Role of Volunteers
The main goal of this project is to promote mental health care access around the United States. In many areas around the country, access to mental health resources for underserved populations is lacking. This is largely due to underserved populations not being able to afford the high costs associated with tons of mental health care resources. While many guides which compile mental health care resources exist, our group has not encountered many which focus on only including resources which are affordable. This project aims to bridge that gap by creating comprehensive guides that detail where the populations of different counties can find low-cost mental health resources near them. As a volunteer, you will be responsible for creating and distributing your own affordable mental health care guide in a county near you. We ran this exact project here in Columbus (in Franklin County) and it went incredibly well. We distributed over 1000+ of the guides we created to local emergency shelters such as Star House, Friends of the Homeless, Gladden Community House and more! Our hope is to work with volunteers to spread this project across the nation and help more communities in need.
If this all sounds pretty overwhelming, you don’t have to worry. My team and I are very experienced with all the steps involved in this project and will provide you with a step-by-step procedure for you to follow and make the process easy. Furthermore, a member of my team who helped to complete this project will be in contact with you at all times to answer any questions you may have!
