The Lupus Foundation of America, Georgia Chapter (LFAGA) is looking for a Treasurer to join our board of directors. The LFAGA is the fastest growing chapter in the Lupus Foundation of America network, with one of the highest chapter revenue and the largest program network serving as a lifeline and a voice of hope raising awareness and fighting for the people living with lupus. Our vision is a life free of lupus and our mission is to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus through programs of research, education, support, and advocacy.
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease which can attack ANY organ in the body. There is no cure, and you can be sick and do not look sick. The following are a few key facts about us:
- 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 1975
- Ninety cents of each dollar raised stays in Georgia to support local programs
- Advocates on the behalf of approximately 55,000 Georgians living with lupus
- Reaches patients in 121 of the 159 counties in Georgia
- Supports research efforts of our parent organization, the Lupus Foundation of America
Qualifications
- Financial statements, budgeting, and accounting skills
- Experience in financial planning
- Knowledge of finance principles
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in non-profit financial management is a plus
- CPA or relevant certifications are beneficial
Responsibilities
- Duty of Care - A legal responsibility to participate actively in making decisions on behalf of the LFAGA and to exercise their best judgment while doing so.
- Duty of Loyalty - Must put the interests of the LFAGA before their personal and professional interests when acting on behalf of the LFAGA in a decision-making capacity. The LFAGA’s needs come first.
- Duty of Obedience - Bear the legal responsibility of ensuring that the LFAGA complies with the applicable federal, state, and local laws and adheres to its mission.
- Prepare the annual budget in partnership with the chapter CEO by ensuring that it aligns with the chapter's strategic goals, conservatively, and has board by-in and approval.
- Prepare monthly financials in partnership with the chapter CEO and Board Chair
- Share financials at every Board meeting
- Ensure compliance with all legal and governance requirements
- Serve as ambassador to the community
- Serve on at least one committee.
- Attend scheduled board meetings and actively participate.
- Be willing to participate in fundraising activities.
