Recruiting Organization: Peace Economy Project
Primary Responsibilities:
- Research and Analysis:
- Conduct legal and policy research on topics such as disarmament, international treaties, and human rights frameworks.
- Analyze case studies related to international legal precedents and their applications to peacebuilding and demilitarization.
Collaborative Research Projects:
- Coordinate with consortium members to design and execute joint research initiatives.
- Draft white papers, policy briefs, and reports supporting advocacy campaigns
Policy Development and Advocacy:
- Develop recommendations based on international law to influence domestic and global policies.
- Support Peace Economy Project’s legislative advocacy efforts through international legal frameworks.
Workshops and Training Materials:
- Assist in creating educational programs and resources that integrate international law concepts with advocacy strategies.
- Organize events or webinars to present research findings and train community members and activists.
Networking and Partnerships:
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between PEP and the Consortium.
- Build relationships with legal experts, policymakers, and organizations aligned with peace and justice goals.
Ideal Qualifications:
Educational Background:
- Law degree (JD or LLM), Master’s in International Relations, Human Rights, or Policy Studies.
Research Skills:
- Experience in legal writing, policy analysis, and working with international frameworks.
Advocacy Experience:
- Familiarity with lobbying strategies, coalition building, and grassroots organizing.
Communication Skills:
- Strong writing, speaking, and facilitation abilities to produce reports and lead presentations.
Key Focus Areas for Projects:
- Legal frameworks for disarmament and nuclear nonproliferation.
- Implementation of international treaties related to peacebuilding and human rights.
- Mechanisms for holding governments accountable to international agreements.
- Economic policies tied to military spending and their legal implications.
