Would you like to volunteer on Whidbey Island and be part of a close knit, amazing team? The Call Manager position is vital to South Whidbey at Home’s mission and it is a very rewarding volunteer position. It is an opportunity to make a difference in our community and to be part of a team of competent and caring people.
Call managers work 4-hour shifts on weekdays. A new call manager would have a 3 month training period of 1 shift per week to learn the job, followed by a reduction of hours to a minimum of two shifts per month after that.
In simple terms, call managers receive requests for service from our members and then find volunteers to provide the services. Ideal candidates will have a combination of excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, the ability to learn a new software program and collaborate with other members of a dedicated team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive requests for service from members through: telephone calls, voicemail messages, emails, and in-person visits.
- Create the service requests in our Club Express software system.
- Prompt the system to send out emails to eligible volunteers. Then choose one and prompt the follow up emails to be sent.
- Follow up with the member to advise that we have found a volunteer.
- Record volunteer time and obtain feedback from member and/or volunteer
- Develop an understanding of members’ unique needs and circumstances
- Document specific issues in the call manager logs.
Required Experience/Skills
- Ability to listen empathetically to a member who is requesting help.
- Ability to protect the confidentiality of our members and volunteers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience working on a computer. We will train you on our specific software system.
- Good problem solving skills..
- Attention to detail and follow through.
- Good communication skills.
