Democracy Ambassador: Legislative Cohort

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Idealist.org

Recruiting Organization: Fair Count

The Fair Count Democracy Ambassadors program is a grassroots initiative designed to empower individuals to become advocates for civic engagement and champions of fair democratic practices within their communities. This comprehensive program equips participants with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to drive positive change and foster a strong culture of civic participation.

As Democracy Ambassadors, participants will:

  1. Learn about Fair Count's mission and its role in strengthening pathways to greater civic participation.
  2. Gain an in-depth understanding of democratic principles and how to encourage community participation in civic processes.
  3. Gain an in-depth understanding of the legislative process in Georgia and Mississippi
  4. Receive training to become community leaders, equipping them to train and educate others.

By becoming a Democracy Ambassador, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by fostering leadership, enhancing your resume and interview responses, gaining hands-on experience in community engagement, and expanding your networks with like-minded influencers.

Moreover, Ambassadors will witness democracy and civic engagement in action from a local and state perspective, becoming more familiar and confident in engaging with democratic and legislative processes. You will receive coaching from experienced leaders in community building and civic engagement, and contribute to research by generating ideas to increase civic participation.

The program is open to individuals who have an interest in civic engagement activities, organizing within their communities, and learning about the three pillars of Fair Count's work: elections, the census, and redistricting.
