Recruiting Organization: Peace Economy Project

The Peace Economy Project is seeking organized and supportive Speakers and Performers Support Team Volunteers to assist with coordinating and managing guest speakers, performers, and presenters for the Valentine’s Day Vigil Against Gun Violence. Volunteers in this role will ensure that the program runs smoothly and that speakers and performers have everything they need to deliver impactful presentations.

Responsibilities:

  • Pre-Event Preparation:
  • Assist in confirming schedules and arrival times for speakers and performers.
  • Prepare name tags, scripts, and other materials for presenters.
  • Set up microphones, music stands, and other equipment as needed.
  • Day-of Event Support:
  • Welcome speakers and performers upon arrival and escort them to designated areas.
  • Provide water, programs, and other supplies to ensure comfort and readiness.
  • Help test and troubleshoot microphones and audio-visual equipment.
  • Keep track of the event timeline to ensure smooth transitions between segments.
  • Stage and Timing Management:
  • Cue speakers and performers to ensure they are prepared to take the stage on time.
  • Communicate with the sound and tech teams to manage audio levels and transitions.
  • Support post-performance needs, such as resetting equipment for the next speaker.
  • Post-Event Wrap-Up:
  • Assist with gathering materials, packing up equipment, and collecting feedback from speakers and performers.

Requirements:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond quickly to last-minute changes.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor.
  • Comfortable working with sound and audio equipment (training will be provided if needed).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in event coordination, stage management, or customer service (not required).
  • Familiarity with audio-visual equipment is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities during the event
