Youth Strong Program Volunteer

Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:00PM-6:30PM (may vary)
New Alternatives for Children, Inc (NAC) is an innovative health and social service agency located in Manhattan, which provides services to low-income children with severe disabilities and chronic illnesses and their families. To learn more about NAC, visit www.NacKidsCan.org
Youth Strong is a program @ NAC that serves teens ages 14-years-old and up, supporting adolescents and fostering a positive transition into young adulthood. Services include:
- Screenings and follow-up referrals for services within NAC or in the community
- Adolescent peer groups with discussions on topics including positive decision-making, communication, self-esteem, and planning for the future, including Career Days
- Field trips and Teen Rec. Nights (including Karaoke, Movie, and Game Nights)
- Parent education groups
Youth Strong is currently seeking a dedicated volunteer to assist during group sessions. If you're looking to gain experience and contribute to a great cause, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
Responsibilities:
- Documentation: Volunteers will help with group documentation, including taking notes and summarizing weekly sessions.
- Creative Opportunities: Volunteers can either create lesson plans or assist in planning activities for the groups. Each session covers unique topics such as Healthy Relationships, Hygiene, Self-Love, and more!
