Role Overview: We are seeking a committed and experienced individual to join our board as a Trustee with a focus on mobilizing donor funding, particularly unrestricted core funding, from Europe and globally. This volunteer position plays a pivotal role in the financial sustainability and growth of ICARE Sustainably International.
Key Responsibilities:
- Donor Engagement:
- Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with potential and existing donors in Europe and globally.
- Represent ICARE at relevant international forums, conferences, and networking events to cultivate funding opportunities.
- Fundraising Strategy:
- Lead the development and execution of a fundraising strategy focusing on securing unrestricted core funding.
- Collaborate with the board and staff to align fundraising efforts with ICARE's mission and strategic goals.
- Grant Management:
- Oversee the application process for grants, ensuring proposals are tailored to donor interests and requirements.
- Manage the lifecycle of donor funding, including reporting, compliance, and accountability.
- Donor Stewardship:
- Ensure regular communication with donors to maintain strong relationships, providing updates on project impacts and organizational achievements.
- Develop stewardship plans to retain and grow donor support.
- Financial Oversight:
- Work with the finance team to ensure donor funds are used effectively and transparently in line with donor stipulations.
- Participate in budget planning and financial strategy discussions to ensure sustainability.
- Advocacy and Representation:
- Act as an ambassador for ICARE, advocating for sustainable development and the empowerment of young adults on international platforms.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in fundraising, particularly in securing unrestricted core funding from international donors.
- Strong understanding of the European and global philanthropy landscape, including trends in corporate social responsibility and international development aid.
- Excellent networking, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Passion for environmental sustainability, community development, and the SDGs.
- Experience in grant writing, project management, and donor reporting.
- Strategic thinking with a track record of implementing successful fundraising strategies.
- Ability to work independently and remotely with a diverse, international team.
- Fluency in English; additional European languages advantageous.
Commitment:
- This is a volunteer position, but we require a significant time commitment, typically around 5-6 hours per week, with flexibility for international travel to represent ICARE when necessary.
- Initial term of service for 2 years, with the possibility of renewal based on mutual agreement and performance.
