Habitat GTA is growing. We are an innovative, entrepreneurial social enterprise that has been increasing our capacity for impact every year. Together, we are building a better, more inclusive GTA for everyone.
What you need to know:
- An online orientation session is required before your first volunteer shift.
- Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
- Volunteers under 18 require a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
- Shifts are self-scheduled via Online Registration.
- Volunteer shifts run from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
- CSA-approved green-label safety shoes are required (available onsite if needed).
Volunteer Role Description:
As an eCommerce Operations Volunteer Assistant, you’ll support the eCommerce team by taking on various essential tasks, including:
Product Staging and Photography:
- Prepare products for photography, ensuring they are clean and presentable.
- Assist in capturing high-quality images to create visually appealing online posts.
Photography Editing:
- Use editing software to enhance and optimize product images for listings.
- Ensure photos align with our brand's aesthetic and quality standards.
Inventory Sorting:
- Organize and sort incoming inventory, ensuring accurate counts.
- Assemble, measure, and prepare products for online postings.
- Help maintain an organized and efficient storage area.
Online Product Postings:
- Collaborate with the eCommerce team to create Shopify product listings.
- Research and apply effective copywriting techniques to craft compelling product descriptions.
- Assist with pricing research to ensure competitive, market-appropriate pricing.
Qualifications / Skills / Physical Requirements:
- Strong attention to detail with a keen eye for photography.
- Basic knowledge of photography and image editing software (an asset).
- Self-motivated, responsible, and eager to learn.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Positive attitude towards tasks and collaboration--teamwork should be fun!
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to commute to the Central Distribution Centre.
- Data entry skills and general computer proficiency.
