Lifeworks is seeking volunteers for short and long-term opportunities to support adult individuals with disabilities. As a volunteer, you will be responsible for completing tasks assigned by the supervisor while respecting the organization's principles and acting professionally toward all clients and staff members.

Hours: Part-time, Monday - Friday

Location: Lifeworks Services - Apple Valley, MN

You’ll succeed in this role if you:

How you’ll be spending your time:

  • Supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Sharing your expertise on a subject or hobby of interest by leading or teaching individuals in a classroom or one-on-one. (examples: knitting, sports, singing, playing an instrument, etc.).
  • Participating in and helping staff to facilitate group activities such as arts & crafts, music, games, outings, etc.
  • Providing clients and staff with hands-on support during community outings, such as helping with meals and pushing wheelchairs.
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and assist where needed throughout the facility.
  • Understanding your role, obligations, and the organization's policies and safety standards.
  • Maintaining trustworthiness, protecting confidentiality, respecting the rights of your colleagues, and approaching your work with an open, non-judgmental mindset.
  • Consistently following the organization's safety standards and requirements while fulfilling your duties.
  • Arriving on time for your scheduled shift and maintaining a professional demeanor when interacting with clients and staff.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of all necessary and required training.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Professional and capable of adhering to instructions.
  • Courteous, attentive, and approachable demeanor.
  • Have access to dependable transportation and excellent time management skills.
  • Candidate must complete and pass a background study, pre-employment drug screen, and reliable transportation for work purposes.
