About LOVEboldly
Founded in 2011, LOVEboldly exists to create and develop spaces where LGBTQIA+ people can flourish in Christianity. While the organization is deeply committed to working with anyone committed to making the church a more inclusive place, we are an affirming, interdenominational organization which is working for a world where all congregations and churches are fully affirming to the LGBTQIA+ community.

Board Terms and Officers
Board members are appointed by the current board for two-year terms without term limits.
The board elects a chair, secretary, and treasurer from among its members. The board can also appoint a vice chair if needed.
Board Member Expectations
- Attend at least five board meetings per year (typically meetings in January, March, May, July, September, and November via Zoom)
- Make a recurring monthly gift or annual gift at a level which is meaningful to you.
- Sponsor and coordinate at least one fundraiser per year either individually or with other board members.
- Leverage connections, networks, and resources to benefit the organization.
- Maintain confidentiality on all internal affairs.
- Disclose any actual or perceived conflicts of interest.
- Ensure the Board and organization complies with all federal, state, and local legal requirements.
- Review and approve annual budgets, financial statements, and business decisions.
- Contribute to the development of policies and strategic plans.
- Assist the Executive Director and Board Chair in identifying and recruiting new Board members.
- Participate in the appointment, support, and evaluation of the Executive Director.
LOVEboldly board members serve two-year terms with no term limits.
Essential Qualifications
- A deep commitment to LOVEboldly’s mission and ministry.
- Lived experience as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community or as a committed ally
- LOVEboldly is an intentionally Queer-led organization and will prioritize recruiting Queer-identified board members.
- Lived experience as a Christian, Christ follower, or similar identity.
- LOVEboldly does not require church membership or attendance for board service.
- As an organization oriented towards Christianity and working in Christian spaces, we ask that board members identify as Christians, Christ followers, or similar identities.
Preferred Qualifications - While these qualifications are not required they represent identities, experiences, and knowledge not represented or underrepresented among our current board members.
- Lived experience as Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color (BIPOC).
- Residence outside of Central Ohio with a particular focus on Cincinnati, Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Toledo, and the Appalachian region of Southeastern Ohio.
- Experience in fundraising, grant research and writing, board governance, fiscal oversight, and congregational ministry.
- Previous board experience, particularly in a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
- Ability and capacity to be involved in fundraising, advocacy, and programming.
