Position Overview:
The Peace Economy Project is seeking attentive and organized Event Ushers for the Valentine’s Day Vigil Against Gun Violence. Ushers will help create a welcoming and safe environment by guiding attendees, managing seating, and ensuring the event runs smoothly. This role is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented and enjoy assisting others.
Responsibilities:
- Guest Assistance:
- Direct attendees to seating areas, restrooms, and activity stations.
- Provide support to individuals with accessibility needs.
- Answer basic questions about the schedule and event flow.
- Seating and Crowd Management:
- Help organize seating arrangements and maintain clear pathways for attendees.
- Monitor seating capacity and guide overflow guests to alternate areas.
- Ensure crowd flow remains safe and orderly during the event.
- Program Coordination:
- Assist with distributing candles, programs, or other event materials.
- Help guests participate in moments of silence, candlelight ceremonies, and group activities.
- Safety Support:
- Alert security or staff about emergencies or issues requiring attention.
- Monitor exits and pathways for accessibility and safety.
- Post-Event Cleanup:
- Assist with clearing seating areas and collecting materials after the event.
Requirements:
- Friendly, professional, and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (with breaks).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage small groups effectively.
- Reliable and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in customer service, hospitality, or event support (not required).
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and assist in emergencies.
- Multilingual skills are a plus but not required.
