ORGANIZATION: Idealist.org

Recruiting Organization: Compassionate Care Western North Carolina

We offer numerous opportunities through our volunteer program to make a significant impact on the lives of others.

Ways Volunteers Help:
  • Patient Care (most popular): Spend time with hospice patients, offering companionship, reading, or participating in light activities. Volunteers visit hospice patients in various settings like nursing facilities, homes, or assisted living communities, offering companionship and comfort without providing personal care.
  • Special Talents: Utilize skills such as hairstyling, massage therapy, or pet therapy to bring comfort to patients.
  • Caregiver Support: Volunteers give respite to at-home caregivers by running errands, grocery shopping, or spending time with patients.
  • Support Activities: Volunteers support office tasks, community engagement, and fundraising initiatives.
Why Volunteer?

Volunteers give the gift of their time and energy and gain great personal satisfaction. Compassionate Care Western North Carolina values the hard work of our volunteers, who provide crucial social and emotional support to patients, families, and staff.

How to Become a Volunteer
  1. Complete an Application: Provide references and undergo screening for dependability, emotional strength, character, and good listening skills.
  2. Training: Complete 15 hours of volunteer training.
  3. Post-Training Interview: Discuss your role with our volunteer coordinator.

Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds, including adults and teens, are welcome. There are various roles, such as patient care, office assistance, special events, etc. Whether you want to spend time with patients, help with community outreach, or provide office support, we have a role for you.
