Africa ICT Right (AIR) is seeking a competent individual to serve as a Virtual Website Developer. The Virtual Website Developer role is a volunteer position and is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of innovative, engaging, and informative websites, social media outlets and intranet platforms for AIR. The incumbent supports, oversees and maintains the AIR communication channels and assists in the development and dissemination of data via multiple technological platforms.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, design and maintain an innovative, engaging, and informative AIR website and intranet
- Manage AIR’s social media profiles e.g. Twitter, Facebook, Google+ etc...
- Ensure that AIR website and intranet are secure, protected, bug free, and that links are functioning
- Plan and execute all web, SEO/SEM, knowledge management databases, emails, social media and display advertising campaigns for AIR channels
- Monitor, examine and analyze website and social media traffic and improve performance indicators
- Coordinate and create audio and videos from the field and distribute on AIR communication channels
- Upload AIR content onto AIR channels
- Train staff regarding how to upload content onto website and social media platforms
- Create new tools and procedures that enhance AIR’s website, social media visibility, information quality and speed
- Prepare regular reporting about company websites and social media performance indicators
- Educate internal stakeholders about intranet best practices and internal intranet processes
- Undertake other related tasks as required by the Communication Director
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Minimum of 3 years proven experience as a webmaster
- A clear vision on web strategy and execution
- Strong command of cross-browser development techniques and
- Understanding of responsive design and development
- In depth social media monitoring and management skills
- Knowledge of designing for search engine optimization (SEO)
- Familiarity with CMSs such as WordPress, Joomla, etc...
- Working knowledge of Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Dream-weaver
- Knowledge and skills for creating audio/video
- Excellent written communication skills
- Ability to create templates and designs for AIR presentations or other communication materials
- Ability to work with minimal direction and completes requests in a timely fashion
- Makes time for unplanned assignments and quickly adapts to changing priorities
- Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
