Position: We are looking for people with good organizational and communication skills with project/product management experience. Agile/waterfall/scrum all good - this would be for software development and other projects across our organization

About Us:

DEFEND is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to reducing risks for children and vulnerable people online. We are currently building 65square, the world’s healthiest social media and dating platform, designed with game-like features and characteristics of an MMO. Our goal is to create a safer, more positive online space for users.

Role Description:

The Project Manager will oversee and manage projects within our non-profit organization, utilizing both Agile and Waterfall methodologies to ensure successful project delivery. This role requires a strong understanding of project management principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. The ideal candidate will be passionate about our mission and committed to making a positive impact in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Execution:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans that outline scope, objectives, timelines, resources, and budget.
  • Utilize Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) for iterative project development while also applying Waterfall techniques where appropriate.
  • Ensure alignment of project goals with organizational objectives.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Identify and engage stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitate regular communication with stakeholders to provide updates on progress, risks, and changes.
  • Foster relationships with community partners, donors, and volunteers to enhance project support.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead cross-functional teams by providing direction, motivation, and support.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to track progress, address challenges, and celebrate successes.
  • Mentor team members in project management best practices.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks early in the project lifecycle and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor risk factors throughout the project duration and adjust plans as necessary.

Budget Management:

  • Prepare and manage project budgets ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Track expenditures against budget forecasts and report variances to senior management.

Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure project success.
  • Prepare detailed reports for internal stakeholders on project status, outcomes, and lessons learned.
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Evaluate completed projects to identify areas for improvement in processes or methodologies.
  • Implement feedback mechanisms to gather insights from team members and stakeholders post-project completion

Qualifications:

  • MUST be 18 years and above.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration or related field; PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Experience in project management within a non-profit environment or similar sector.
  • Proven experience managing projects using both Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Proficient in project management software tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Trello, Asana).
  • Passion for social causes with an understanding of non-profit operations is highly desirable.
