OverviewThe Peace Economy Project (PEP), a nonprofit organization focused on promoting peace, economic justice, and the reallocation of military spending to social and environmental priorities, is seeking an Educational Program Volunteer. This role is perfect for someone passionate about education and advocacy, looking to make a meaningful impact by developing and facilitating educational programs that inform and engage communities on issues related to peace economics and social justice.
Responsibilities- Program Development: Assist in the creation and development of educational content and materials for various audiences, including students, community groups, and the general public.
- Workshop Facilitation: Help plan and facilitate workshops, seminars, and presentations that educate participants on the principles of peace economics, the impact of military spending, and the importance of reallocating resources toward social goods.
- Community Engagement: Engage with schools, universities, community centers, and other organizations to promote and implement PEP's educational programs.
- Evaluation and Feedback: Collect and analyze feedback from program participants to assess the effectiveness of educational content and delivery methods, making recommendations for improvements.
- Research and Updates: Stay informed on current events, research, and developments in peace economics and social justice to ensure educational programs are relevant and up-to-date.
- Collaboration: Work closely with PEP staff and other volunteers to align educational programs with the organization's goals and advocacy campaigns.
- Strong interest in and commitment to PEP's mission and goals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in an accessible and engaging manner.
- Experience in education, training, workshop facilitation, or a related field is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Creative and proactive approach to problem-solving and program development.
- Familiarity with educational content creation and delivery platforms is a plus.
This is a flexible, remote volunteer position requiring approximately 5-10 hours per week, including preparation and facilitation time. The schedule may vary based on program needs and volunteer availability.
LocationRemote - volunteers can be based anywhere with reliable internet access. Opportunities for in-person program facilitation may arise depending on location and program needs.
