About Us:

The Lethbridge Helpers is dedicated to ensuring that all students in Lethbridge receive the academic support they need to become fearless learners. We offer free online tutoring and language sessions for elementary, junior high school, and high school students.The Lethbridge Helpers is a youth run organization and we are looking for youth leaders to apply for this position. The Lethbridge Helpers is run in partnership with YouthInspirED Foundation and YWCA Lethbridge and District.

Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to serve as the Director of Equity and Inclusion at The Lethbridge Helpers. This role is vital in ensuring that our programs reach and serve the most vulnerable students in our community. The Director will provide strategic insight on how to adapt our programs and policies to better support marginalized students and foster an inclusive, equitable environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure Programs Reach Vulnerable Students:
  2. Work to ensure that our programs effectively reach and engage the most vulnerable students in the community, identifying gaps and providing recommendations to address barriers to access.
  3. Adapt Programs for Vulnerable Students:
  4. Suggest ways to adapt and improve our programs to better serve vulnerable students, ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive academically and socially.
  5. Policy Recommendations for Advocacy and Awareness:
  6. Propose policies and initiatives that improve our advocacy efforts, increase awareness, and promote inclusivity, ensuring our organization is a champion for all students in the community.

Role Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by marginalized communities in Lethbridge, especially in accessing educational resources.
  • Ability to provide practical suggestions and strategies for program adaptation and policy improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for social justice and inclusion.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other team members and contribute to a positive organizational culture.
