Do you enjoy meeting new people?
Are you skilled at interviewing and assessing needs?
Would you like to make an impact on the life of an adult who has a legally appointed guardian making decisions?
Yes? Then let's chat!
Guardian Partners is a growing nonprofit dedicated to ensuring the dignity, safety and rights of those who have been placed under a court appointed guardianship. We train volunteers to meet with adults diagnosed with cognitive impairments; to interview their guardians and make recommendations to the Probate Court as needed. Volutneers offer short-term, limited investigation, interviewing, and resource sharing to adults and their families. Volunteer Case Monitors are at the heart of our mission to keep vulnerable Oregonians safe and thriving. You'll be given training up front and ongoing support to be successful as a volunteer Monitor.
Once assigned a guardianship case, you'll:
- Be given training up front and ongoing support;
- Review court documents;
- Meet with the Protected Person and the Guardian, interview professionals involved;
- Furnish a report to the Court, identifying any needs, intervention or recommendations.
The impact you can make in the life of an adult under guardianship can be profound!
Each limited case review may take 5-10 hours a month of your time. Volunteers are requested to commit to at least 10 case reviews within a year. We operate and are in need of volunteers in 23 Oregon Counties. Mileage reimbursement provided.
The first step is contacting us for an interview at staff@guardian-partners.org. We look forward to meeting you soon!
