Recruiting Organization: STEM Montessori Academy of Canada
STEM Montessori Academy of Canada (SMAC-SIAC) is a registered not-for-profit organization specializing in science, technology, engineering, and math. (STEM) programming is open to all students with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application. The SMAC will specialize in an advanced bar-none. STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)
We are expanding our programming to industry-specific, hands-on experiences. We require a Media Post Volunteer to help us keep the momentum going in support of the growth and development of these programs. We ask you to join us in continuing to serve the youth in our community.
Time Commitment: 4 hours per week
Location: virtual
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the face and voice of our organization in media appearances, including interviews, talk shows, and podcasts, to promote STEM awareness and highlight the importance of STEM careers.
- Develop engaging and informative content related to STEM topics for media presentations and interviews.
- Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to develop media strategies that align with our organizational goals and messaging.
- Participate in community events, conferences, and workshops to advocate for STEM education and careers.
- Stay updated on current trends and news in STEM fields to provide accurate and relevant information to the audience.
- Build and maintain relationships with media contacts and influencers to expand our media presence and reach
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, STEM-related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience as a media personality, spokesperson, or host, preferably with a focus on STEM topics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong on-camera and public speaking abilities.
- Deep knowledge and passion for STEM education and careers.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work under tight deadlines.
