Land of Sky Regional Council's Senior Companion Program for Caregivers is currently recruiting volunteers 55+ to assist caregivers in Buncombe, Henderson, Transylvania, and Madison Counties.
The Senior Companion Program for Caregivers focuses on providing socialization, education, transportation, respite, and companionship to caregivers of older adults who are overwhelmed with the day to day responsibilities of caring for their loved one. Through this program, qualified AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers earn an hourly stipend and are provided other benefits such as:
- Monthly training
- Sick and vacation time
- Mileage reimbursement
- Volunteer recognition
- Flexible schedule
- and much more!

The Land-of-Sky Regional Council serves a four county region - Buncombe, Henderson, Madison, and Transylvania Counties - in areas such as economic development, land use planning, brownfields, waste reduction, clean air/clean water, transportation issues, senior centers, family caregiver support/respite services, housing rehabilitation, volunteer opportunities, Ombudsman services, and many more. We work with the local governments on many of these issues.
