We're seeking volunteers to help us design and construct the foundation of a unique community project: a healing hair garden! This phase focuses on the essential construction of the garden space, laying the groundwork for a future community initiative that will provide hair care services, education, and support.

Project Goals (Designing Phase):

This project aims to mirror the principles of hair health and regrowth through the revitalization of our outdoor space, using native Poconos plants and vine-growing elements to symbolize growth and restoration.

This will be a highly visible, community-focused space dedicated to outdoor hair regrowth education.

Feel free to contribute to the design elements! We believe this project presents a compelling opportunity to demonstrate your skills and contribute to a meaningful cause.

Project Goals (Construction Phase):

  • Construct durable garden structures using cinder blocks, rocks, and stonework.
  • Prepare the site for soil and planting in a future phase.
  • Create a strong and stable foundation for the eventual outdoor hair salon garden.

  • Assist with the placement and leveling of cinder blocks.
  • Assist with constructing a pergola.
  • Assist with constructing a cinder block bench and fence.
  • Transport and arrange rocks and stonework.
  • Help with site preparation and leveling.
  • Help with cleanup.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (cinder blocks, rocks).
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Creativity and attention to detail.
  • Carpentry, Electrical, Landscaping, Gardening experience a plus but not necessary.

Benefits:

  • Contribute to a meaningful community project.
  • Learn from individuals.
  • Work alongside fellow volunteers and build connections.
  • Help build the foundation for a future project to help those with underserved hair loss and Trichotillomania.
  • These stones will bear your name, so all who enter may know those who made this garden possible.

Additional Notes:

  • The hair salon garden and education component, including the use of hair clippings, will be implemented in a future phase.
  • Bring own tools.
  • Please wear work-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear.
  • This project will be outdoors.
  • We are hoping to get this project done in 1 Weekend! Ideal for Groups!
  • Material Donations are appreciated and optional.

THANK YOU!
