RN or APRN Dispensary Volunteer (Acting Pharmacist Role)
ORGANIZATION: LAKELAND VOLUNTEERS IN MEDICINE INC
Please visit the new page to apply.

Are you an RN or APRN looking for a meaningful way to give back to the community? At Lakeland Volunteers In Medicine, a free medical clinic, we are able to dispense medications at no cost to our patients through a state-approved dispensary license. This special license allows licensed RNs and APRNs to serve in a role similar to that of a pharmacist - reviewing, preparing, and dispensing prescriptions under our clinical protocols.
We are currently seeking RN and APRN volunteers to assist in this capacity. You do not need prior pharmacy experience - we'll provide training and support. This is a flexible and rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of patients who otherwise would go without essential medications.
Volunteer Role Highlights:
- Dispense free prescriptions under our clinic's dispensary license
- Support patients by ensuring they receive proper instructions and guidance
- Collaborate with our clinical team in a compassionate, community-based setting
- Flexible shifts available (only four hours a week makes an impact!)
Who can volunteer?
- Active Florida-licensed RNs or APRNs (retired RNs or APRNs also welcome)
- Individuals who enjoy patient interaction and want to serve their community
Help us bridge the gap in care by joining our volunteer team!

Mission Statement
Lakeland Volunteers In Medicine (LVIM) empowers the medically underserved of Polk County to live healthier lives by providing access to FREE, high-quality, comprehensive healthcare through a community of caring volunteers.
Description
VOLUNTEERS ARE THE HEART OF WHAT WE DO!
At LVIM, patients gain a medical home and have access to doctors’ visits, diagnostic testing, lab tests, ultrasound scans and x-rays at no charge because of our volunteer staff. More extensive diagnostics, such as CT’s and MRI’s, are also available through a network of participating ancillary providers who volunteer their facilities, staff and professional time also at no charge to LVIM or the patients. Additionally, LVIM operates a full-service pharmacy, funded by United Way of Central Florida, filling approximately 30,000 prescriptions a year. The Prescription Assistance Program within LVIM secures almost $3 million of brand-name prescriptions for patients at no charge.
At LVIM, the treatment is free; the care is priceless.
