Embracing You is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering single parents and their children. Our team is committed to making a positive impact in the community.
The Board Secretary is a vital officer of the board, responsible for maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance with the organization's bylaws, and supporting the effective operation of the board. This volunteer (unpaid) position is essential for the smooth functioning and transparency of the organization.
We are seeking a board member who will serve as the Secretary and will be responsible for the following:
Board Meeting Support:
- Attend all board meetings (virtually).
- Record accurate minutes during board meetings, capturing key decisions, action items, and discussions.
- Distribute meeting minutes to board members promptly.
- Ensure meeting agendas and materials are prepared and sent out before meetings.
- Keep an updated list of board members, terms, and contact information.
Communication:
- Serve as the central point of contact for board communications.
- Support the Board Chair in coordinating correspondence with board members and stakeholders.
- Notify board members of upcoming meetings, deadlines, or other important updates.
Qualifications:
- Passion for the mission of Embracing You Inc.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficient in using tools like Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and virtual meeting platforms.
- Previous experience in administrative roles or nonprofit governance is a plus.
- Commitment to attending meetings and devoting time to the role as required.
Time Commitment:
- Approximately 3-4 hours monthly, including board meetings, preparation, and follow-up.
