Morgan Duke Conservation Society is seeking individuals to join as Trail Conservation Steward to help protect the ecosystem and environment at Saranac Lakes Wild Forest Areas. The role involves picking up litter along the beaches and trails, documenting the garbage collected, and assisting with various conservation activities. Areas, including Lake Clear beach, Middle Saranac Lake Beach, Hotel Pond, Little Green Pond, Indian Carry, and Floodwood road.
- Pick up litter left along the beaches and trails
- Document the type of garbage collected on a data sheet
- Weigh the collected bags using a handheld scale
- Leave collected bags at trailheads for DEC pickup
- Notify James Sullivan at Morgan Duke Conservation Society of bag locations at the end of the day
- Assist with painting trail gates
- Report any trail conditions
