ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Gulf Islands National Seashore is seeking six (6) volunteers to assist as front-line representatives of the National Park Service to enhance visitors' experiences at Gulf Islands National Seashore. The position is duty stationed at Fort Pickens.


Duties Include:

  • Greeting and welcoming visitors to the Fort Pickens area, helping to orient them to the park/area, and informing them about park sites and amenities, guided programs and activities, and other areas of interest.
  • Accurately answer visitor questions regarding various topics, such as park operations, nature, and history.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties, like sweeping floors, dusting exhibits, and picking up litter.
  • Help support on-site special programs or events and off-site outreach events.
  • Research, prepare, and lead guided talks, walks, and/or demonstrations to connect visitors with the park's natural, historical, and cultural resources. (Optional)
