Bring joy to with your pet therapy-trained dog by making visits to Good Shepherd hospice patients AND/OR our patients who are in our pediatric palliative care program (ages up to 22). Visits occur wherever the patients live - in the greater Boston area. Right now our greatest areas of need for pet therapy are: Middlesex County, Metrowest, Boston & south
We are seeking pet therapists for the Middlesex County area: especially in: Lexington, Newton, Cambridge, Belmont, Watertown and nearby towns. (and also other areas in greater Boston), though our office is in Newton.
Friendly pet therapy visits are tremendously appreciated by our patients and their families. Join us and help improve our patients' quality of life.
For Dogs: You and your dog must have received Canine Good Citizen, or equivalent certification, or beyond.
Do you have a non-dog pet that you have been certified with to make visits? (cats, bunnies, birds, etc.) we are also very interested in discussing our volunteer possibilities with you!
Our award-winning hospice offers comprehensive volunteer training and ongoing support. Volunteers & their pets are a valued part of our organization.
Contact us to learn about our upcoming training, starting in late March.
Our patients reside across the greater Boston area and we have pet therapy visiting opportunities in a wide area. For information, please contact Chris Resmini, at cresmini@gscommunitycare.org. Check our website to print out a volunteer application at GSCommunityCare.org/volunteer.
Thank you! We look forward to hearing from you.
