Commitment: Part-Time Volunteer Leadership Role (10-15 hours per week)

Champion Legal Advocacy for Health Justice: Join The JJ Center Inc. Board

Role Overview:

The JJ Center Inc. is seeking experienced and passionate individuals to join our Board of Directors and provide expert guidance to our Health Advocacy program, specifically our Legal Health Aid clinic. This clinic delivers critical pro bono assistance to address the legal barriers to health faced by underserved communities in the Washington Metropolitan Area. We are seeking board members with a strong commitment to social justice and expertise in law, healthcare, or related fields.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide expert guidance on legal and policy issues related to health equity.
• Advocate for the rights of underserved communities and promote access to healthcare.
• Contribute to the development of strategic partnerships and collaborations.
• Assist in fundraising and resource development to support the clinic's operations.
• Participate in board meetings and contribute to strategic decision-making.
• Offer professional advice to the clinic’s operational team.
• Ensure the clinic’s operations are legally and ethically sound.
• Utilize your experience to directly impact the lives of vulnerable people.

Qualifications:

• Significant experience in law, healthcare, public policy, or a related field.

• Demonstrated commitment to social justice and health equity.

• Strong understanding of the legal and social challenges faced by underserved communities.

• Excellent communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

• Experience with board governance is a plus.
