Join us to in restoring and repairing the Old Ridge Route, a scenic, historic road, credited for uniting a splitting California. This 1915 highway runs through the Angeles National Forest, from Castaic to Gorman. It is filled with history and incredible views!
We will be meeting in the Carl's Jr parking lot in Gorman before heading up to the road. Important to have a full tank of gas, closed toes shoes, warm work clothes (there will be dirt involved!), water and snacks. Gloves are recommitted, a shovel, rake and broom are great but not required - we have tools. A car with a bit of ground clearance is recommended (equivalent to a RAV4 - 4WD not needed)

Mission Statement
The Ridge Route Preservation Organization is committed to restoring and educating the public to the importance of California’s historic 1915 Ridge Route Highway. An engineering marvel that prevented California from separating into two separate states. 17.6 miles of the road are on the National Register of Historic Places. The Old Ridge Route offers a rich history and incredible views! The road has been largely unmaintained since 1933. We are here to advocate for it's restoration and reopening.
Description
Working to restore the 1915 Old Ridge Route, we hold volunteer events once a month that focus on clearing drainage, patching potholes and improving the road. We welcome everyone - from scout troops to bicyclists to off road clubs to antique car clubs and most of all - the curious!
The Ridge Route Preservation Organization has rebuilt the fallen arch at the 1920s hotel, the Tumble Inn. We have repaired 11 landslides that made the road impassable. We partnered with SoCalGas to repair 6 miles of road that's open to the public. This year, we intend to make some big moves in the road's restoration - and we'd love for you to be a part of it!
