About Kit

Founded just this year, Kit is a youth-led nonprofit creating innovative and accessible programs in conservation education and career prep for high school and college-aged students all over the world. For 2025, we plan on holding two awesome program: a month-long summer mentorship and a miniature version of our "Kit Conservation Fellowship"-a hands-on experience working on an impactful conservation project in partnership with a real conservation organization. Did we mention that all of our programs are both 100% virtual and free?!

The Content Creator Position

We all know that social media is a powerful tool in today’s world, and for Kit (being a host of virtual programs), we see it being a big part of our growth. With this in mind, we are looking for some brilliant volunteers who would love to create film videos, create graphics, or write articles for our online communities. We’re super flexible-here’s what we are hoping for:

  • Someone who loves creating. You do not need to be in charge of content for every platform. In fact, coming in with a specific area (e.g. short-form videos, Medium articles, or Instagram graphics) is really helpful.

  • Someone looking for a commitment. We expect content creation volunteers to work 1-5 hours a week for at least 3-months unless otherwise communicated (communication is key!)

  • Someone who is passionate about conservation. This is a conservation-centered organization after all. From climate change activism to land restoration, we want to make content that follows our top three values: passion, exploration, and optimism. We hope that content creators come in with excitement about many areas of conservation, or at least willingness to, well, explore!

Earn the Presidential Volunteer Service Award

We can now give out the Presidential Volunteer Service Award-"the premier volunteer awards program, encouraging citizens to live a life of service through presidential gratitude and national recognition".

As of March 2nd, 2025, all volunteers of Kit who are United States citizens/permanent residents can track their hours in order to earn the Bronze, Silver, or Gold award in their age group. See the official PVSA website for more details.

Apply Now!

We ask prospective content creators to apply so we can get a feel for the fit of their content in our organization. You may be asked to share some examples of work you're proud of-if you don’t have content live yet, or you don’t want to share it, you can create an example you think aligns with Kit’s work.

Deadline to apply: March 28, 2025 (03/28/2025)

Mission Statement

Kits mission is to foster a community of passionate young conservationists by offering virtual experiences that connect students to real-world projects and career pathways in conservation.

Description

Kit was just founded this year, 2025, and we have big plans! To start, this summer we aim to launch a month-long mentorship program for high school and college aged students which includes not only guidance from professional conservationists, but informative (and engaging) sessions to learn even more about the opportunities and impact in the field of conservation. In the Fall, we launch a mini version of the full-length fellowship program we are planning for 2026. Through close partnership with conservation organizations, fellows will work on a 3-month project making an impact through the partner organization's mission.

Our values are passion, exploration, and optimism. We believe that these values are at the core of protecting and preserving our planet and the amazing life it has to offer.
