The National String Symphonia (NSS Orchestra) is looking for volunteers to assist with various tasks at our performances. This may include setting up and tearing down music stands, lights, and other equipment before and after performances; assisting in the lobby (checking in audience members, at-the-door ticket sales, etc.); and more.
Volunteers may attend the concert for free. An upcoming performance is scheduled on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Christ Episcopal Church in Columbia, MD. This is a great opportunity to give up a few hours of your time and, in return, experience the fun, excitement, and beauty of string orchestra music!

Description
Founded in 2013, the National String Symphonia is a professional symphonic string orchestra. Its mission is to preserve, promote, and present string orchestra music. Many ensembles do not program this repertoire for a variety of reasons, including its relative obscurity and its musical complexity as well as basic challenges in obtaining performance materials.
Our goal is to reach beyond the archetypical orchestra audience and become an integral part of the musical life of listeners at all ages and stages. We seek to innovate the concert experience, and we are exploring new and different ways of presenting the music. Since 2022, we have begun a program called #WildStrings and performed "in the wild" (i.e., outside the confines of concert halls) including libraries, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. We strive to increase accessibility to and relevance of the music while ensuring high-caliber performances.
The universality of the music and its makers is reflected in the makeup of the NSS. Our members represent a wide age range, hail from all over the world, and bring a variety of experience to our organization.
The NSS continues to grow rapidly. We have performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, as well as other venues in Baltimore, and Howard, Montgomery, and Frederick counties in Maryland. We believe your involvement will enrich the orchestra even more!
