Do you love sewing and quilting? Would you enjoy sharing your passion with senior residents and tenants? Lyngblomsten is seeking a friendly and patient volunteer to assist our seniors with various sewing projects, including a special quilting project with our deaf residents.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has strong sewing and/or quilting skills.
• Is patient and enjoys working with seniors.
• Is willing to provide guidance and assistance on various sewing projects.
• Is enthusiastic about fostering creativity and community.

Specifically, you will:

• Assist residents in completing sewing and quilting projects.
• Provide guidance on fabric selection, pattern reading, and sewing techniques.
• Help with our ongoing quilting project, which involves our deaf residents and tenants.
• Create a positive and supportive environment for residents to learn and enjoy sewing.

ASL Skills (Optional):

While American Sign Language (ASL) skills are a plus, they are not required. We are primarily looking for someone with strong sewing and quilting abilities. We will work to ensure effective communication with all residents.

New volunteers will complete a simple onboarding process including an orientation and Dept of Human Services background study with fingerprinting (state-requirement for working with vulnerable individuals).
