We are looking for volunteer tutors to assist adult ESL students in reading, writing, American customs, culture and conversational English.
Potential tutors attend a series of training session. We provide support for tutors and learners as the develop learning plans and get started on their learning journeys.
What makes a good tutor for adult learners? A person must be 18 years old. Have at least a high school diploma and read at a 12th grade level or higher. Possess a solid command of English (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) and be able to be to communicate clearly.

The mission of the Literacy Council of Norristown is to improve lives and strengthen families in Greater Norristown and Montgomery County by providing adult literacy and English language programs.
Description
The Literacy Council of Norristown was founded in 1984 by a group of dedicated Montgomery County citizens to provide tutoring to students who wanted to earn their high school equivalency or improve their reading and math skills.
Since then LCN has grown to meet the increasing need for our programs and services. Today we continue to equip students with the reading, writing, math and English language skills they need to access better employment opportunities, access better education and training opportunities, and better participate in the Montgomery County community.
