ORGANIZATION: But Still I Am One
Please visit the new page to apply.
We are a small 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to empowering young adults (ages 16-21) experiencing housing instability in Waldo County. Our mission is to help them succeed despite housing instability, food insecurity, safety issues, and health constraints.
We collaborate with six high schools and with local agencies to identify these young adults and provide them with financial and housing resources. Additionally, we assist them in finding local services that promote life skills, independence, and personal development. Our approach is grounded in proven methods, and our community partners recognize that we fill important gaps in support for these young people.
OUR SERVICES
· We provide short-term financial, housing, and outreach assistance to young adults identified by counselors in our six high schools, local agencies, or our Youth Outreach Specialist.
· We offer prepaid Visa cards that allow young people access to driver's education classes, and the capacity to pay for groceries, heating, and more. This support helps them learn life skills, budgeting, and personal decision-making.
· Our outreach specialist connects the young adults to food pantries, job training, programs that support new parents, and other local services.
THE JOB
This is a part-time position (12 hours per week) that involves collaborating with six local high school counselors and supporting young adults by providing financial assistance and information about other available resources. Our active board assists with intake processes, issues prepaid Visa cards, conducts fundraising, and helps create connections with others who work with these young people.
Your role is to engage with young adults in the community and schools to help them address challenges related to home insecurity while they complete high school, search for jobs, or begin training programs. Your responsibilities will include:
· Meeting with young people identified by school counselors or other sources to confirm their identities and assess their needs.
· Sharing information about available resources that they may be unaware of.
· When helpful, connecting youth with additional resources throughout the community.
· Reporting weekly to Board of Directors’ Liaison.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide services to unhoused/home-insecure young adults ages 16 to 21 in Waldo County.
Description
We received our 501(c)(3) in 2021. In the last two years we have provided both students and the schools with funding to help relieve some of the burdens for the unhoused and home-insecure ages 16 to 21 in Waldo County. We provide prepaid Visa cards, pay for driving school, and help with rental assistance. We provide advocacy and assistance with supportive case management, aid in the emancipation of minors, guidance in learning crucial life skills, and effective response to other requests that might come up.
We hope to start a Host Home Project this year. Our vision is to one day be able to provide a haven for our clients - a place they can call their home.
