We will spend the next three Wednesdays from 9AM - noon in our architectural salvage warehouse re-organizing and cleaning items that have been salvaged from historic homes and saved from the landfill! We'll be creating shelving to display all of the wood trim, measuring doors and windows and labeling their sizes on each one, moving things around and cleaning the dust off of everything to get ready for our next public sale on April 12.

Come for an hour or come for the whole time. We need lots of hands! THANKS!

About HISTORIC SALISBURY FOUNDATION INC

Location:

215 Depot Street, SALISBURY, NC 28144, US

Mission Statement

To preserve, protect, and revitalize the historic fabric of Salisbury and Rowan County.

Description

Founded in 1972, Historic Salisbury Foundation is the only private non-profit organization in Rowan County whose sole mission is to protect our historic architecture and has been recognized as a leader in North Carolina preservation. We have placed protective covenants on 114 historic homes and buildings, many of which were previously endangered. Every house that is saved helps save an entire neighborhood and maintains the history of the community. There are many ways we make a difference:

  • Salvage architectural items from buildings that can't be saved and re-sell at our architectural warehouse for sustainability
  • Educate through docent-guided tours at our 1820 house museum, the Hall House
  • Host OctoberTour - the longest continuously running historic home tour in the state of North Carolina (50th Anniversary in 2025!)
  • Purchase neglected historic homes and stabilize them, then sell to someone who can complete the work.
  • Have a presence at city council and preservation commission meetings to advocate for historic preservation
  • Have community events throughout the year for behind-the-scenes restoration projects and fundraisers that help us save more properties.
  • Actively maintain archives on historic properties - available to the community for research.
