ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Longfellow House Washington’s Headquarters National Historic Site (LONG) preserves a remarkable Georgian house in Cambridge, MA whose occupants shaped our nation. It was a site of colonial enslavement and community activism, George Washington’s first long-term headquarters of the American Revolution, and the place where Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote his canon of 19th-century American literature.

The site offers community events throughout the year, including the Summer Arts Festival, Winter Workshop Series, Holiday Open House, Longfellow Birthday, and more. All events are free and open to the public. The Event Support VIPs will be key members of the events team, engaging the public, providing logistical and physical support, and contributing to the successful growth of LONG's community offerings.

Duties:

  • Assist NPS staff with set up and take down of events, including using wheeled carts to transport folding chairs, stage panels, sound equipment, tables, tents, signage, lawn games, art in the garden supplies, promotional materials, water, decor, and other materials as directed by NPS staff, and staging all in designated areas of the lawn as directed.
  • Provide wayfinding at the site and respond to visitor questions or direct them to NPS staff when necessary.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Interest and ability to communicate with members of the public.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods of time and lift objects up to 50lbs.
