About FREDERICK W VANDERBILT GARDEN ASSOCIATION

Location:

PO BOX 239, HYDE PARK, NY 12538, US

Mission Statement

To rehabilitate and maintain the formal gardens at the Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site to the landscape defined by the National Park Service; to establish a sound funding program for the ongoing rehabilitation and maintenance of the gardens; and to work with the National Park Service to establish a program of interpretation and education opportunities for Association members and the general public.

Description

We are a volunteer organization of approximately 125 volunteers who rehabilitate and maintain the gardens of the Vanderbilt Mansion completely by fundraising to pay for equipment, supplies, and materials. We have been in existence since 1984 and work closely with the National Park Service and the Olmstead Center for Landscape Preservation to identify the historic features of the gardens and to develop plans to preserve them or re-establish them. We are a 501(c)3 not-for-profit porganization.
