About RESILIENT HEROES NFP

Location:

5938 N OCONTO AVE, CHICAGO, IL 60631, US

Mission Statement

Provide First Responders and Military personnel with the knowledge and tools for self-care to live healthy lives during and post their careers. First Responders include: Police, Firefighters, Paramedics, and Dispatchers. A proactive approach to suicide is needed by providing psychoeducation, interactive conversation, and scenario-based training. Resilient Heroes, NFP was created to inform first responders and military of the traumas, triggers, and risk factors for suicide. By providing first responders and military personnel with the knowledge of stress coping and the adversities to trauma, we can provide them with the ability to advocate for themselves and seek the resources available to them. This will offer our first responders the ability to be more proactive and resilient which reduces the likelihood of being in crisis.

Description

We have been presenting our first responder/military trauma and suicide psychoeducation training to various agencies across the country. First responders include: police, firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers, and military. Our curriculum is designed utilizing a data driven analysis approach. This data has been gathered from suicide psychological autopsies, our CEO, Liz Pol's 21 years of law enforcement experience and her master's degree in forensic psychology. Liz Pol presents the material to first responders and military by combining her real life worked experiences and her psychology background to provide resources and the tools needed for their self-care. Trainings include recruit level academy training, in-service, retiree training, active/veteran military. Arlo, a certified trauma therapy dog attends most trainings, conferences, events, etc.
