The Cochiti Lake Project is seeking volunteer support during our recreation season from 10 March - 31 October. Join our team and provide assistance with visitor services, project beautification, facility maintenance, environmental stewardship, and public engagement to promote our volunteer program. Time commitments and scheduling are flexible, but volunteers are required to work 24-29 hours/week in exchange for an RV site, water, electric, sewer, and propane. Applicants must be able to pass a background check and be willing to wear a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers volunteer uniform (shirt, hat, and name tag).
Duties:
- Staffing and operating the entrance kiosk
- Running our Life Jacket Loaner Program
- Providing visitor services and camping information
- Vegetation work-weeding, watering, pruning, planting, & mulching
- Litter control and sanitation
- Opening and closing gates for recreation facilities
- Campground care and upkeep
- Staffing and operating the Cochiti Lake Visitor Center
- Assisting Rangers and Maintenance with special activities (public outreach, water quality, non-routine maintenance, etc.)
