Mission Statement

Neighbors for a Better Roeland Park's (NBR) a volunteer organization whose mission is to pool resources to encourage positive community development. We provide support to our community to help create a welcoming city that encourages its citizens and businesses to flourish through community engagement.

Description

Neighbors for a Better Roeland Park has worked via endorsement & advocacy to make sure local elected officials prioritize quality of life in Roeland Park. More importantly, NBR works incredibly hard to develop a vibrant & welcoming community in Roeland Park.

Our Summer Concert Series has been highly valued by everyone in and around the community for the last 5 years. The proceeds from the events are granted to organizations that serve the local community like Roesland Elementary, the Holiday Kindness Project & the Wildflower Garden in R Park. We partially funded a climbing wall at Roesland Elementary. How cool is a climbing wall at school!?!?

Every year during the holidays, our Police Chief and officers look forward to the Holiday Kindness Project. NBR uses proceeds from the Summer Concert Series and donations from the community to purchase gift cards to local businesses. The cards are then provided to the police department to give out in the community as they see fit. This was inspired by a national story about one of our officers who purchased diapers for someone accused of shoplifting. We want that kindness to be synonymous with Roeland Park.

NBR also created and makes available our My RP signs. Over 300 signs have been posted within our small community that tell the world Roeland Parkers value kindness and respect for other humans regardless of race, creed, gender, or any other characteristic used to divide us.
