Join the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services (OCS), BMMA, Inc. (Black Mamas Matter Alliance), and 4Kira4Moms, Inc. for the 2025 ATL Black Maternal Health Walk & Block Party on Saturday, April 12th at the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation & Aquatic Center and Selena S. Butler Park! Taking place during BMMA's annual Black Maternal Health Week (#BMHW25) campaign, the 2025 ATL Black Maternal Health Walk & Block Party promises a fun-filled day of family-friendly activities, delicious food, live entertainment, vendors and more.
We are looking for volunteers to assist in the following areas (shifts will be 3-4 hours on average):
Set Up and Swag Bag Stuffing - Stuffing swag bags and organizing them by size and setting up for the walk
Check-in/Registration - Assisting with checking in walk attendees and passing out swag bags
Parking Lot Monitors - Manage parking logistics by setting up barricades for reserved spots, directing traffic flow, assisting with load-in/out, and redirecting attendees to nearby parking.
Welcome and Hospitality - Greet and direct attendees through registration, guide them to the walk start line, and answer event questions.
Walk Cheerleader and Companions- Hold signs, cheer walkers on, share extra water if needed, and accompanying attendees along the walk who may need additional support
BMMA Store - Promoting merchandise sales
Water and Sanitation - Maintain cleanliness by replenishing water and ice, picking up trash, tidying activity areas, and wiping down common surfaces.
Breakdown - Assist with event breakdown by removing signage, cleaning up trash and tables, dismantling stations, and packing leftover swag.

We envision a world where Black mamas have the rights, respect, and resources to thrive before, during, and after pregnancy.
Our Goals- Change Policy: Introduce and advance policy grounded in the human rights framework that addresses Black maternal health inequity and improves Black maternal health outcomes
- Cultivate Research: Leverage the talent and knowledge that exists in Black communities and cultivate innovative research methods to inform the policy agenda to improve Black maternal health
- Advance Care for Black Mamas: Explore, introduce, and enhance holistic and comprehensive approaches to Black mamas’ care
- Shift Culture: Redirect and reframe the conversation on Black maternal health and amplify the voices of Black mamas

- This is a Done in a Day opportunity and there is no prior training or ongoing commitment needed.
- Must be at least 16
- Orientation or Training
- 3-4 hours minimum
- Set-up and Breakdown volunteers must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Walk Companions and Walk Cheerleaders must be able to walk 2.1 miles.
