This 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Business Systems Integration (BSI) Humanitarian Services (HS) team.
The BSI HS team creates user-friendly digital tools to support the American Red Cross mission. The Product Analyst would be working on the Shelter Client Information Application (SCIA) web app for managing client registration and disaster services in shelters.
The SCIA Product Analyst works with the Product Manager to oversee the app's development and improvement, collaborating with team members to identify needs, create solutions, and document requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures alignment between product, technical, and business units on the strategy and solution proposals to achieve business strategy and requirements
- Plans and facilitates the refinement of business requirements from stakeholders
- Writes user stories
- Analyzes business and user needs
- Identifies potential opportunities, challenges, and risks during product design
- Gathers business feedback for incorporation into future development
- Coordinates with the Product Manager, Scrum Master and technical team to manage current and backlogged user stories
- Documents product communications for end users in the form of release notes
- Maintain a Red Cross email account with regular use of Microsoft Teams and SharePoint
Time Commitment:
- Approximately 20 hours per week, working remotely
- This 20 hours includes the following SCIA standing meetings:
Attend the weekly SCIA Business Backlog Refinement meeting on Wednesdays from 10:30-11:30am ET
Attend the weekly SCIA Technical Refinement meeting on Fridays from 10:30-11:30am ET (a different 1 hour slot may be arranged if needed)
Attend the daily SCIA Daily Standup meeting, from 10-10:30am ET, 2-3 times per week
Qualifications
Required:
- Enthusiasm about using technology to improve the delivery of services to Red Cross clients
- Experience working with diverse communities of end users and business stakeholders
- Experience with product design and development processes
- Experience with remote collaboration tools and platforms (Outlook, Teams, Monday.com, Jira)
- Ability to coordinate tasks and deadlines across concurrent projects
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
- Availability to attend Daily Standup and bi-weekly refinement meetings
- Ability to align product, technical, and business units with the overall business strategy.
- Proficiency in planning and facilitating the refinement of business requirements, analyzing business and user needs, and identifying opportunities, challenges, and risks.
- Experience with Agile development frameworks
- Skill in writing user stories and documenting product communications, such as release notes.
- Experience in managing current and backlogged user stories, ensuring smooth workflow and prioritization.
- Strong analytical skills to identify and address potential issues during product design and development.
- Submission of current resume
- Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies
Preferred:
Experience in human-centered design
