About Us
BCAUSEICAN is a 501(c)3 organization. We are on a mission to provide programs and services to underserved communities; our passion is to reach and teach children so that they can thrive, strive, and arrive. The leading program is the BCAUSEICANCODE curriculum, which provides instruction in coding concepts, terminology, and skills to begin the art of coding for grades K-12. We currently focus on schools in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia (the DMV as it is known to locals).
Role Overview:
The Fundraiser and Donor Management Volunteer will play a vital role in supporting BCAUSEICAN’s fundraising efforts as well as donor engagement initiatives. This position involves assisting in the development and execution of fundraising campaigns, donor outreach, and event planning to help secure financial resources for the organization. The volunteer candidate will report to the Executive Director & the Director of Organizational Performance and will require a commitment of approximately 10 to 15 hours per month.
Selected candidates must be able to pass a criminal background check. This is a volunteer position. We are seeking high school or college students with an interest and passion in donor relations and fundraising.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns, including online, peer-to-peer, and in-person initiatives.
Research and identify potential donors, grants, and sponsorship opportunities.
Engage with donors through personalized outreach, appreciation initiatives, and follow-ups.
Support the creation of compelling fundraising materials, including emails, social media content, and presentations.
Help organize donor appreciation events and community outreach programs.
Track and maintain donor contributions and communications in fundraising databases.
Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to promote fundraising efforts.
Provide support in grant writing and reporting as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge related to grants; grant writing.
Passion for nonprofit work and community engagement.
Experience in fundraising, donor relations is a plus.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Google Suites, and familiarity with fundraising and/or donor management database platforms is a plus.
Experience and Education:
High school students seeking to fulfill graduation volunteer hours are encouraged to apply, especially those with an interest in donor relations and fundraising.
Bachelor’s degree (or currently pursuing one) in Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field is a plus.
Previous experience in fundraising, donor engagement, or nonprofit work is preferred but not required.

Description
BCAUSEICAN conducts computer literacy and financial literacy classes. The computer literacy classes focuses on developing the techniques and skills to support STEM by introducing students to the basics of coding. The computer literacy classes target youth from 6-12. The financial literacy classes focuses on stock market education. The students learn the terminology and concepts of the stock market and eventually learn to simulate day trading. The financial literacy classes target middle school to high school students. We have been conducting classes for 2 years in the SHAW Community in NW Washington, DC.
