ORGANIZATION: LIFE ON EARTH ART

image_20250310112504

Life On Art is a nonprofit organization committed to using the power of art to drive social change, promote healing, and build stronger, more connected communities. We create spaces where individuals can express themselves, heal, and connect through creativity.

This spring, we’re excited to host art workshops at two correctional facilities, the Central California Women’s Facility (CCWF) in Chowchilla, CA and the Correctional Training Facility (CTF) in Soledad, CA. We’re looking for passionate volunteers to help bring creativity and personal growth to incarcerated individuals. These workshops will run from mid-April to June with 8 sessions at each facility. Volunteers can choose to participate at one or both facilities and commit to as many or as few sessions as their schedule allows.

Why Volunteer with Life On Art?

As a volunteer with Life On Art, you'll have the opportunity to directly impact lives by supporting creative expression, fostering personal growth, and empowering individuals through art-based experiences.

Volunteer Roles:

  • Art Workshop Facilitator: Lead creative projects and guide participants in self-expression.

  • Art Supply Organizer: Manage and organize materials to ensure smooth workshop operations.

  • Art Project Assistant: Support facilitators, assist participants, and help create a welcoming and inspiring environment for all.

What You’ll Gain:

  • Make a Difference: Contribute to the rehabilitation and well-being of incarcerated individuals through the healing power of art.

  • Develop New Skills: Gain hands-on experience in art facilitation, community engagement, and social justice work.

  • Expand Your Network: Connect with passionate advocates, artists, and change-makers who share your commitment to social change and creative expression.

  • Find Fulfillment: Experience the personal satisfaction of helping to transform lives and make a lasting impact on the lives of incarcerated individuals.

If this opportunity aligns with your passion for art, advocacy, and service, we’d love to have you as part of our team. To learn more and sign up as a volunteer, visit our website at www.lifeonart.org and fill out our Volunteer Form, accessed under "Get Involved" at the top of our website.

Together, we can empower individuals, inspire change, and create spaces for healing through art.

About LIFE ON EARTH ART

Location:

133 COPELAND ST SUITE C1A, PETALUMA, CA 94952, US

Mission Statement

Life On Art unites people from diverse communities to co-create handmade large scale interactive art as a platform for social action and healing.

Description

Life On Art makes the healing power of art available to those who often feel unseen and forgotten. Through community building and artistic activism, we advocate for human rights and systemic change.

We invite communities impacted by systemic injustices to art workshops where they explore and share their stories and, through artmaking, build components of large-scale artworks. These programs foster a sense of belonging, self-expression, hope, and purpose. Together with our volunteers, we provide workshops for schools, the public, and those in the caring professions. Life On Art works in California state correctional facilities and psychiatric hospitals, with at-promise youth, with veterans, and with nonprofit partners to serve trauma-impacted people.
