ORGANIZATION: Gentiva Hospice

Offering your time and heart to a Hospice Patient is rewarding for both you and the patient. It enriches their quality of life and peace to them and their families.
Gentiva Hospice serves patients all over Butler, Lawrence, and Mercer County. We strive to place volunteers in all settings of our service area. We serve patients wherever they live, so we have patients in their own homes and facilities.
You can volunteer to offer companionship to patients; read a book, just talk, play games. Relief to the caregivers, light housework, light yard work, maybe even meal prepping.
We also are looking for volunteers who would be willing to offer music, art, and other creative entertainment at the bedside. If you have a registered therapy pet, we can even offer pet visits.
We are also in need of people who are willing to sit vigil with patients who are near the end of their life. This includes extra training and experience.
If you have a kind heart and are looking for meaningful ways to volunteer your time, this is the opportunity for you. The best part is that Volunteer's do not provide any hands on care.

Gentiva Hospice serves patient and families wherever they may live. Our office covers the areas of Butler, Ellwood City, New Castle, Hermitage, Grove City, Mercer, and Greenville.
With hospice there is hope for a better quality of life.
The most important time is the time we have together - with family and friends. Many people think hospice is only about end-of-life care, but it’s so much more than that. In thousands of communities across the country, we help people with a life-limiting illness - and their loved ones - make the most of the time they have in the comfort and privacy of wherever they call home.
Our teams of physicians, nurses, social workers, volunteers, hospice aides and chaplains attend to people’s emotional, spiritual, and physical needs during this challenging time.
As a hospice volunteer, you become a valuable part of our care team and play a vital role in improving the quality of life for those in our care. There are so many ways to help; everything from spending time with a patient, running an errand, or doing light housekeeping to even providing invaluable administrative support. Contact us today and our hospice volunteer coordinator will help you find the best way to help.
