Position Overview:
The Supply Team Member plays a critical role in our Senior Disaster Support Team by managing the flow of resources needed to support disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. This volunteer will actively solicit, receive, store, organize, and distribute supplies such as food, water, generators, and other essential items. Additionally, they will connect individuals and communities to additional resources, including organizations offering funding or support. This role requires strong organizational skills, a friendly demeanor, and the ability to build and maintain community connections.
● Actively solicit donations or resources (e.g., food, water, medical supplies, practical items) from local businesses, organizations, and community members.
● Receive, store, and inventory incoming supplies, ensuring all items are accounted for and stored securely.
● Organize and maintain supply areas for quick and efficient distribution during disaster response efforts.
● Monitor resource levels and communicate shortages or needs to the leadership team.
Distribution and Coordination:● Assist in distributing supplies to individuals and communities affected by disasters.
● Ensure equitable and efficient allocation of resources based on needs assessments.
● Build connections with other organizations to access additional resources or funding for relief efforts.
Community Engagement:● Meet with individuals or families before or after disasters to assess their needs and connect them with appropriate resources.
● Develop and maintain positive relationships with donors, volunteers, and partner organizations.
● Organize and participate in resource drives with local churches and businesses to collect needed items.
● Act as a liaison between the community and the task force to identify gaps in resources or services.
Qualifications:● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; must be friendly and approachable.
● Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently as needed.
● Comfortable lifting and moving supplies (e.g., boxes, cases of water) when necessary.
● Willingness to engage with diverse groups of people, including individuals affected by disasters and representatives from organizations.
● Familiarity with inventory management or logistics is a plus but not required.
Time Commitment:● Monthly team meetings during non-disaster times to plan and prepare.
● Participation in occasional item drives with local churches and businesses to gather supplies.
● Flexible availability during disaster response and recovery periods, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Skills:● Experience in community outreach, fundraising, or logistics.
● Familiarity with disaster relief processes or resource coordination.
● Proficiency in basic record-keeping or inventory tracking systems.

Programs Offered Through Seniors in Service:
Foster Grandparent Program (FGP)
- The Foster Grandparent Program recruits senior volunteers (55+) to go into schools and after-school programs to mentor at-risk and special needs children and provide them with one-on-one, individualized attention
Senior Companion Program (SCP)
- The Senior Companion Program recruits senior volunteers (55+) to go into the homes of homebound, elderly clients and provide them with companionship and assistance.
Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)
- The RSVP Program recruits senior volunteers(55+) to participate more fully in the life of the community through volunteer service. The program matches the considerable wealth of knowledge, skills, and experience of this vital and rapidly growing age group with the addressing of critical needs and unresolved issues in our community.
Operation Veteran Connect
- Provides companionship to veterans, enabling them to live independently. Supports the VA in supporting providing Whole Health support to veterans.
