About Il Punto
Il Punto is a community-focused non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Italian culture, language, and heritage in the Seattle area. Through cultural events, educational programs, and community engagement, Il Punto serves as a hub for individuals passionate about Italian culture.
Position Overview
Board Members play a crucial role in the leadership and governance of Il Punto. They provide strategic direction, oversee financial health, and support fundraising and community engagement efforts. Board Members collaborate with the President and other officers to ensure the organization’s success and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Governance & Strategic Leadership
Actively participate in board meetings (1 hour, once a month, mostly online) and serve on at least one committee (to be defined based on the personal interests of the applicant)
Provide strategic guidance, project oversight, execution plan and reporting to Board for the chosen committee.
Contribute to the development and oversight of the organization’s strategic plan.
Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of programs and initiatives.
Community Engagement & Advocacy
Serve as an ambassador for Il Punto, promoting its mission and programs within personal and professional networks.
Assist in the planning and execution of events, educational programs, and outreach initiatives.
Help build relationships with community partners, sponsors, and local organizations.
Operational Support
Take ownership of projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic plan and goals.
Provide expertise and guidance in areas such as marketing, event planning, membership growth, or nonprofit management.
Support volunteer recruitment and engagement efforts, ensuring volunteers are effectively integrated and utilized.
Contribute skills and professional insights to enhance organizational capacity.
Qualifications & Skills
Passion for Italian culture, language, and heritage.
Experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, event planning, marketing, finance, or legal affairs is a plus.
Strong collaboration, communication, and leadership skills.
Commitment & Term
Attend monthly board meetings and actively participate in at least one committee.
Estimated time commitment: 2-5 hours per month.
Board terms typically last for two years, with the option to leave sooner with notice.
