The Juneau Ranger district is looking for hosts for our Lena Beach picnic site. These picnic areas are on the beach at the head of Lena Cove. It is a prime location for viewing sunsets, wildlife viewing, and fishing. There are 7 picnic sites with picnic tables, 5 of which have shelters, and 3 vault toilets. Lena beach picnic site offers water and electric amenities. Hosts will be responsible for maintaining picnic sites, shelters, and bathrooms. Hosts are expected to provide 2-3 hours of volunteer work daily. Space is available for a small RV, camper, or van. Duties may include grounds maintenance, painting, minor carpentry, bathroom cleaning and stocking, trash removal, opening and closing of the recreation site gates, or general site maintenance. This is an excellent opportunity for folks with seasonal work in Juneau to provide volunteer hours in exchange for a housing opportunity for a small van or RV.
