Support for Salmon Release Field Trips!
ORGANIZATION: Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group
Please visit the new page to apply.
To close out our Salmon In Schools program we are hosting field trips in March and April at Flaming Geyser State Park to release baby salmon that schools have been taking care of since the Winter. We are seeking volunteers to help lead stations at these field trips. People who are interested in teaching elementary students about salmon and their habitat needs during high energy field trips will be a great fit! We will provide all information and materials needed to lead the stations: 3, 30 minute stations per field trip. Station topics include: Salmon Release-helping kids pour a cup of water with a baby salmon in it into a creek, Mactoinvertebrate station- helping kids identify the aquatic macroinvertebrates in trays and what they indicate about the quality of the water they came from, Hooks and Ladders game- an active obstacle course/tag like game where they students take on the life cycle of a salmon and try to survive a full life cycle without being tagged. You must pass a background check to volunteer at these field trips. Please contact Amy@midsoundfisheries.org with any questions!

Mission Statement
Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group works to involve local people in projects that will ensure a future for wild salmon.
Description
Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group is dedicated to helping landowners and communities protect their local fish. We practice fisheries and stream restoration in the King and Kitsap Counties in Washington State. Our service area includes the Green/Duwamish River watershed, the Lake Washington/Cedar River watershed, isolated streams flowing into Puget Sound in King County, and all watersheds in eastern Kitsap County. We use habitat restoration projects - such as streamside fencing, native tree planting, and fish passage improvements - as catalysts to building community partnerships. As one of 14 Regional Fisheries Enhancement Groups in Washington State, we are part of a coordinated effort to restore fish habitat in the state.
