Support the start of the journey for the next generation of service dog puppies by ensuring they catch their flight to their puppy raiser! Assist by driving our future service dog puppies to a needed destination, including to/from the airport or to the puppy raiser. During transport, you’ll be a puppy concierge, helping ensure their overall wellness until they reach their desired destination, as well as provide them with required transportation equipment. Training, supplies and guidelines will be provided to you.

What You'll Do:

  • Pick up in the NYC area & drive the puppies to the required location- either to another airport or deliver the puppies to a volunteer.
  • Prepare shipping crates for upcoming flights, including adding clean bedding, water, etc. (supplies provided).
  • Ensure all puppy identification and accompanying records are kept in order and are consistent.
  • If flying, deliver the puppies to the airport in plenty of time for their flight, understanding that the airlines have firm cut-off times and that cargo locations may be busy at popular times of day. Stay with the puppies until they're in a secure area.
  • Provide wellness, care and support for the puppies - including keeping the crates clean & sanitary.
  • Communicate closely with Canine Companions about the puppies’ whereabouts.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age. Be able to drive to pick-up puppies around NYC.
  • Must provide us with a copy of a valid driver's license and allow us to check your driving record.
  • Ability to provide safe transportation of puppies in crates in an enclosed vehicle. Crate dimensions range from:
    • 24"x 16"x 15"
    • 28" 20.5"x 21.5"

    • 32"x 23"x 25"

  • Able to independently lift 25-45lbs. and have space in their vehicle for two medium-sized crates.
