Mission Statement

The mission of Keep the Midlands Beautiful is to educate, inspire and empower citizens to improve the places where they live, work and play through litter prevention, recycling, and beautification efforts.

Description

Keep the Midlands Beautiful was formed in 1989 as a non-profit affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and PalmettoPride to serve Lexington and Richland counties. We use the power of over 5,500 dedicated volunteers each year to reduce litter, increase recycling, and enhance beautification. We coordinate seven litter prevention programs, including the Adopt-A-Highway and popular annual Lakeside Litter Sweep cleanup of Lake Murray, we provide three recycling programs including free paper shredding events, we coordinate beautification projects and provide environmental education.
